Do you need to split employee earnings across locations for tax calculations in different jurisdictions? Yea, I’m talking to you, with your spreadsheets and various manual ways for solving this problem. Hi everyone. I’m Ashley Gordon at the Working Smarter Cafe and on today’s Two-Minute Tuesday Tip, I’ll be exploring the Location Allocation for Hybrid Employees feature coming with your UKG Pro 2023 Spring Release. Because let’s be honest. Who doesn’t need to make their work-life easier on a Tuesday.

Hybrid employees and remote work dominated the talking points in our payroll sessions at last year’s Aspire customer conference. And, it makes perfect sense. As return-to-office initiatives and hybrid work sweep across organizations, we know there’s greater demand to split earnings across locations. The good news is the Location Allocation feature works if you have salaried employees working in two states or two local tax jurisdictions within the same state. In fact, you can even allocate time across multiple locations—not just two.

You simply specify as a percentage how you want to allocate time across an employee’s work locations and then your UKG Pro solution will split the earnings to ensure accurate taxation. With Location Allocation – try saying that three times fast – you set up these allocations for your salaried employees across multiple work locations using the Web Import Tool. Then, those allocations will automatically be applied to each future pay period. It’s as simple as that.

Be sure to check out the Location Allocation for Hybrid Employees job aid in the show notes. This is hot off the presses for our podcast listeners so be sure to take a peek. That’s all for now. Until next time. I’m Ashley and that’s your Two-Minute Tuesday Tip.
